Maria Fritz was a self-taught San painter from the Kalahari region whose work celebrated the natural world and local ecological knowledge. Working in oil and watercolor, her paintings explored the flora, fauna, and traditional narratives of her community. Maria passed away at the age of 36, leaving behind six children.

Proud Mary acquired this original work through Omba Arts Trust, an organization that since 2002 has worked alongside emerging San artists in remote regions of Namibia.
