Santa Catarina is made up of Silvia, Julieta, Rebeca, and María Ananí from Pantelhó, Chiapas. Silvia learned backstrap weaving from her mother Polonia, and passed it on to her daughters — turning the craft into an intergenerational practice, a form of expression, and a way to stay connected to their heritage.

This print is inspired by Santa Catarina's original backstrap woven work, Polonia— named for the woman who started it all.

Santa Catarina receives 15% royalties on every print sold.

Meet Proud Mary artist collective, Santa Catarina. The Santa Catarina group is made up of Silvia, Julieta, Rebeca, and María Ananí from Pantelhó, Chiapas. Their backstrap weaving practice comes from a deeply rooted family tradition. Silvia learned the craft from her mother Polonia, and has now passed it on to her daughters, turning weaving into an intergenerational practice.
