Lisa Boepens

Lisa Boepens (born 1968) is a Namibian San visual practitioner whose work centers on the natural world - flora, animals, and the land as lived knowledge. Working primarily in oil and watercolor on paper, her paintings draw on close observation and cultural memory, rendering plants and wildlife not as distant subjects but as familiar presences.

Boepens has participated in multiple community-based art workshops and has exhibited her work in Namibia and South Africa. Her practice reflects a deep connection to place and an intimate understanding of indigenous plant life, often translating traditional knowledge into contemporary visual form. Through restrained composition and careful attention to color, her works position nature as both subject and inheritance.
